WAHA Website a Resource for Nonpartisan Healthcare Reform Information
August 24, 2009
We have added several resources to our website including links to a side-by-side comparison of federal health reform proposals provided by the Kaiser Family Foundation and Frequently Asked Questions at Whitehouse.gov.
WAHA is committed to being a nonpartisan resource on national healthcare reform efforts. We have recently revised our Health Policy Principles, which guide our efforts on policy reform.
1. Coverage and care for all people at all times regardless of age, employment status, economic circumstances and preexisting conditions.
2. Improve patient outcomes and reduce waste through improved care coordination, and a focus on primary care and preventive care.
3. Assure consumer choice of providers and public and private plans.
4. Simplify the system (insurance administration, etc.) so that it is user friendly (understandable and transparent to consumers).
5. Control costs and improve quality of care by reforming the payment system so it rewards results and not activities and holds providers accountable for outcomes not procedures.
Please forward this to anyone else who may be interested.
